Aloxe Corton AOC is a wine region located in the northern end of the Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or heartland in France. The appellation is known for producing high-quality red and white wines, with the production consisting of almost only red wine, around 98%, and only around two percent white wine. The region’s unique terroir, which includes a mix of limestone, clay, and sandstone soils, as well as the influence of the nearby Corton hill, contributes to the distinctive character of the wines produced under this appellation. The wines of Aloxe Corton AOC are known for their rich, complex flavors, and are highly regarded by wine enthusiasts around the world.
Wines from the Aloxe Corton AOC region pair well with a variety of dishes, including roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses. The region’s white wines are particularly well-suited to complement seafood dishes, such as grilled fish or seafood risotto. The wines’ characteristics, influenced by the terroir and climate of the Burgundy region, make them an excellent choice for those looking to explore the exceptional quality and distinctiveness of wines from this unique region.
The Aloxe Corton AOC region is also home to three Grand Cru AOCs of the Corton hill, including Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, and Charlemagne, which are situated in three communes; Pernand-Vergelesses, Aloxe-Corton, and Ladoix-Serrigny.
