Albariño is cultivated mostly in the region of Rias Baixas, Galicia along Spain’s northwestern coast and in northeastern Portugal, where it is known as alvarinho and is the core grape in vinho verde.

The name comes from the Latin albo, albus meaning white, whitish.

A delicious dry white table wine, Albariño is best enjoyed with sea food. Rarely made or aged in oak, this is a wine that is best enjoyed when young.
