The winery that Franić family built is based on a 100 years old tradition of wine-growing and wine-making. Tradition poured a need to make it a brand, Krystal Modus. It is a state of thinking where everything we do is evolving and looking far in the future. The family decided to revive an old variety called Trnak.

Trnak is a red wine produced under the name Stallion Krystal, aged in oak barrels for not longer than 12 months. Its medium strength body with balanced tannins acids and residual sugars takes you on a movie-like tasting experience. Our main focus is to make the best out of our grapes, to build knowledge of this variety (we basically revive this variety and started producing 100% Trnak-based wine in Croatia) and make it famous.

In addition to Trnak, we make wines out of Rukatac (under name Bijela Vila, Croatian noun for White Fairy) and Zlatarica Vrgorska, also Croatian’s reborn variety. Zlatarica Vrgorska is a local variety that we decided to improve and produce a wine that has more acids than Rukatac-based wine. Dalmatia’s white grapes lack in acids so it is a priority to grow and to maintain a production process that will launch a more unique wine.

Being first in making the rarest wine in Croatia puts pressure on us but also makes us proud when we hear feedback from our guests in the winery.
