TERRITORIO LUTHIER Winery was born in 2008 with two partners, Fernando Ortiz and Cristina Alonso. Both wine lovers, after having visited the main wineries in the world, we wanted to make a high quality red wine with Tempranillo, the native variety of Ribera del Duero, expressing the purest essence of this territory.
The name of the winery, TERRITORIO LUTHIER, is inspired by the essence of the luthier, the craftsman who maintains a millenary craft working wood and strings to create instruments capable of bringing joy to souls for centuries. It is the recognition of the work of the winemaker, who like a luthier, is a craftsman who aims to create a masterpiece that lasts over time, seeking elegance and harmony.
Only thanks to the best grapes from old vines, the work of the winemaker and long aging, wine shares the evocative mission of music, thanks to which a glass of wine manages to speak to us of a place, its history, its present and its future. And it also enlivens our spirits.
The project was born to delve into the roots of Ribera del Duero, making wines for cellaring with the best grapes from centenary vines, reflecting the character of this land, and at the same time, far from the fashions and trends of wines with a lot of extraction and wood. Far from seeking to achieve high scores, the objective from the beginning has always been to make elegant, subtle and delicate wines.
We prioritize naturalness and artisanal winemaking above all else, using indigenous yeasts and keeping sulfite levels to a minimum. We recognize the value of tradition and the importance of sustainability and respect for the environment.
This is how our wines were progressively born: LARA O, our Crianzas, the freshest wines;HISPANIA, the most iconic line of wines aged in Spanish Oak; TERRITORIO LUTHIER Reserva, aged wines that are a tribute to elegance, sensitivity and harmony and LUTHIER Gran Reserva, Guardian of the History of Ribera del Duero.
Following the success of these first wines, in 2018 the facilities of Bodegas Territorio Luthier were inaugurated, located in a wonderful setting, in the middle of a pine forest just 5 minutes from Aranda de Duero. It is in the triangle formed by Aranda de Duero, La Horra and Zazuar where the old vineyards that nourish our wines are located. Magnificent Tempranillo vines, but also Garnacha or Albillo Mayor, varieties with which we have been expanding our range of wine with other elaborations such as claretes, traditional of the area, or whites, such as our LARA O Blanco Crianza 2018 which was the first white crianza in the History of Ribera del Duero. It is characteristic of our wines that all of them are aged in barrels, not making young wines.
Territorio Luthier labels have managed to consolidate their position in the wine lists of all the restaurants with Three Stars in the Michelin Guide of San Sebastián, among others. The sommeliers of Arzak, Pedro Subijana’s Akelarre and Martín Berasategui have decided to include the winery’s high-end wines as new options for diners to enjoy with their dishes.
