There’s an intersection where the events not only cross but occur. It’s the time lag in which the dust of daily life becomes history as it settles. This history tells of four generations of Calitro, and it is written in the silhouette of a bottle of Negroamaro or Primitivo.
It tells of land, wine, lights of village festivals. And it certainly tells of love and blood.
Everything started with grandfather Ciccillo, owner of a 15 hectares vineyard and bulk wine producer, who, after an entire life dedicated to family and love for his land, tired, decided to abandon the work in the fields. This is the moment when, at the fourth generation, Francesco chooses to follow his grandfather and in 2011 gives birth to Vigneti Calitro and start bottling and selling wines in Italy and abroad, giving full weight to tradition combined to innovation and great attention to details and design.
Each letter of Calitro name is different and represents a member of a big very close family with different characters.
The logo is the combination of three symbols of Apulian tradition: the lights typical of patronal festivals, the hand-embroidered doilies and the rose window of baroque churches of Salento.
The winery is steady growing but the focus remains the valorisation of native vineyards of Negroamaro, Primitivo, Susumaniello and Verdeca declined in 6 red, 1 rosé, 1 white and 1 Charmat sparkling wine.
