The fascinating history of Château d’Aqueria begins in 1595 when Louis Joseph d’Aqueria purchased this area of Tavel known as Puy Sablonneux. His son Robert d’Aqueria built a home which was transformed in the 18th -century into the Château as it stands today.
Château d’Aqueria is one of the major wine estates in the southern Rhône Valley, covering seventy hectares. Located between Avignon and the Pont du Gard and has vines in the cru Tavel, Lirac and Côtes du Rhône.
Jean Olivier acquired this outstanding terroir in 1919, followed by his son in law Paul de Bez in 1943, and his grandson Vincent and Bruno.
Three generations of the same family have cherished this unique estate which includes a chateau and exceptional vineyards.
The Guigal family joins the line of owners of the Château d’Aqueria with the ambition of continuing its story whilst honoring the memory of the people of Aqueria who have worked these excellent terroirs over the years.
