Fattoria del Teso is a family owned winery situated in the Municipality of Montecarlo, a picturesque medieval village roughly halfway between Lucca and Florence. Given its favorable climate – 50 km from both the Mediterranean sea and the Apennine mountains – and the suitability of the soil, the territory of Montecarlo has specialized in viticulture since the days of the ancient Romans.
In a typically Tuscan countryside, surrounded by pines and cypresses, Fattoria del Teso covers an area of about 50 hectares, of which 15 are covered by vineyards.
Fattoria del Teso is an historical property, fought over by the nobility and clergy since the middle ages. A parchment dating from 1253, held in the archives of Lucca Municipal Library, documents a dispute between the Camaldolese (Benedictine) Abbey of Pozzeveri and the Noblemen of Uzzano and Vivinaia about property “in loco ubi dicitur… Teso”.
Since the early 1970s Fattoria del Teso has been run according to the most modern agricultural principles and has always been to the forefront in techniques for planting and tending the vineyards and for the subsequent fermentation and ageing of the wine.
During our guided tours, visitors will leave for an interesting and suggestive walk through 5 of our magnificent vineyards, led by our oenologist who will tell about the story of Fattoria del Teso and of Montecarlo and will show the different kinds of vineyards, exposing cultivation methods, grape varieties, features of the DOC of Montecarlo and much more. At the end of the walk in the countryside, there will be the visit of the ancient cellar and under the porch in front of the ancient cellar with the historic barrels, or inside the ancient cellar, there will be the wine tasting paired with a selection of local cured meats, cheeses and Altopascio bread with our extra virgin olive oil upon request our special Vinsanto 1998 paired with cantucci.

– Vinsanto del Teso DOC (Trebbiano and Colombana)
The Fattoria del Teso is famous for its Vinsanto. The current Vinsanto on sale ages back 20 years or more!
All the wines are produced using the grapes grown in the Fattoria.
