La Mondianese was born from a precious root: the passion for wine and its culture. These roots lie in the land of Ruchè, a very rare exclusive grape variety from Monferrato, north of Asti, with a DOCG territory consisting of only seven little villages.
La Mondianese winery is surrounded by a single vineyard that extends for 7.5 hectares in the Asti area, where a careful and tireless pursuit of quality begins, even before entering the cellar. The care of the vineyards is carried out through mechanized and manual treatments. In the last 9 years we have not carried out any chemical herbicides in the vineyard, we preferred to use only organic fertilizer from farms near the winery. We did a short pruning of the plants, so as not to add more stress to them too.
As for the harvest, we always pick up the grapes by hand in small baskets and we immediately take them to the cellar. Therefore the first selection of the bunches is made at the moment of cutting and a second selection in the cellar before putting the grapes in the crusher machine.
We try to be kind during the whole process, and not to do too much clarification on the wines, to get bottled with low levels of sulphites.
The ancient cellar is immersed in the Monferrato hills and contains wooden barrels of different sizes, barriques and tonneaux from Allier.
