In 2013, I began this project without a winery or my own vineyards, but with the help of Mr. Rui and Mr. Manuel, I was able to produce the first Morphosis white. In 2017, in the valley of the river Pinhão, I found two small vineyards belonging to the family of an accomplished and dedicated viticulturist, Mr. Alfredo. I haven’t had the opportunity to meet him, but I’m grateful for these magnificent vines, which are around 50 years old. Including them in the project, I have been able to continue my story and produce the first Morphosis red.
As I’ve become more closely linked to the land, and with the idea of developing a sustainable enterprise, I’ve added a new element: a typical rural house in the local Douro style, in the village of Celeirós do Douro. Having as main motivator the sharing and creation of memories, all these processes — the vineyard, the wine and the people — are inseparable. With its authenticity, informality and welcoming atmosphere, Morphosis Boutique Home aims to offer a unique and comfortable stay, with its rustic character subtly enhanced with noble and typical materials, such as schist, wood and iron. It comprises three separate accommodation units: Franca, Pedreira e Alfredo.
