At the head of a group that has, after more than 50 years, become a leader in children’s fashion, Roger Zannier is nowadays also involved in several wine-making regions in Portugal and, more recently, in France. When he was frequently travelling to Portugal for his textile activities, Roger Zannier discovered the “Quinta do Pessegueiro” and fell literally under the spell of the estate and the Douro region. In 1991, he became the owner of the estate and had vines planted immediately. His first and one of his most important investments in the wine world had just come into being. The estate has been expanded over time and now comprises three plots of land, all situated in the Douro region.
Because these lands are among the most improbable ones in which man has ever planted the vineyards, it took the clear-sightedness and the modesty of a captain of industry respectful of the land to perpetuate time-honoured cultivation traditions, to innovate in the most modern wine-making processes and to take on the knowledge and expertise of an unequalled second in command such as João Nicolau de Almeida.
The family is one of values most dear to Roger Zannier. He therefore entrusted the management of the estate to his son-in-law, Marc Monrose. A native of Burgundy, sensitive to the land, and attached to cultivation and values, with a love for life and wine, Marc is unquestionably the right man to see the task through and to manage the commercial undertaking successfully.
These extraordinary foundations combined with passion and an unwavering commitment to authenticity now lead to the production of the exceptional vintages.
