In Kapfenstein, the Winkler-Hermaden family cultivates 38 hectares of wine according to organic standards and runs a hotel and restaurant at Kapfenstein Castle. The vines grow on steep soils made of volcanic basalt and tuff, but also on tertiary sands and gravel. The rainy climate produces fresh and salty wines that mature for a long time and very well. The restaurant at Kapfenstein Castle is dedicated to Austrian and Styrian cuisine and varies the dishes depending on the season.
