Mulled Apple Cider - Fred Whitlock

Mulling is nothing more than the process of heating and spicing. Mulled apple cider is a delicious American drink perfect for those cold winter days and nights. Don't substitute apple juice which has been filtered. You should be able to find cider in your local supermarket.

Ingredients

1 Gallon (16 cups) apple cider
8 Whole cloves
6 Star Anise
4 Sticks Cinnamon
8 Whole allspice seeds
2 oranges

Method

Put cider in a stock pot and bring to a slight boil. Peel the oranges. Cut peeled oranges and juice them. Add orange peel, orange juice and spices and simmer for 10 minutes or to taste. Filter out the spices and orange peel through a colander into a punch bowl or other serving dish. Reheat as required.
