Castel di Salve was established in 1885 by Antonio Winspeare. After more than a century, it has been renovated by his grand-nephew, Francesco, who continues to run it with care and passion.
Castel di Slave selected old vineyards with potential and chose just the very best terrain to plant new vines. Then, the century old winery was painstakingly restored. Just one goal in mind: create exceptional wines.
Top quality wine come from top quality grapes, so you’ll find us in our vineyards every single day, personally checking on every single detail of the cultivation process. We focus on local Salento varieties like verdeca, negroamaro, primitivo, malvasia nera di Lecce – other varieties are used, if exclusively Italian. The goal is to give the wines the stunning red colour of the local soil, the wild fragrances of the Mediterranean, the heat of the Salento sun, and even a hint of the sea.
