Dolcetto grapes are produced in the region of Piedmont, along with other types of grapes like Nebbiolo, Barbera and Primitivo. In fact, Dolcetto is the third grape of Piedmont and it’s considered the poor cousin of Nebbiolo and Barbera.

It is a late ripening variety and produces wines with notes of blackberry, strawberry and plum. The wine is crisp and refreshing and pairs well with spicy foods such as curry or curry sauce, but it also goes great with lighter fare such as Italian cheeses and pasta dishes.

These wines are designed to be enjoyed relatively young – within three or four years from vintage.
